ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING
FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING THE PROPRIETY OF
THE REQUESTED INCREASE IN UTILITY RATES BY GULF
STATES UTILITIES.
WHEREAS, Gulf States Utilities has filed a Statement of
Intent to increase rates within the City of Beaumont; and,
WHEREAS, such increase would adversely affect ratepayers
within the City of Beaumont; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, as a regulatory authority,
is charged with the duty to regulate rates of public utilities;
and,
WHEREAS, in every case in which the requested increase in
rates constitutes a major change in rates, the City shall hold a
public hearing to determine the propriety of such change;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT a public hearing be held at 5 :30 o' clock p.m. on the 14th day
of January, 1985 in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 801 Main
Street, Beaumont, Texas for the purpose of determining the
propriety of the request by Gulf States Utilities for an increase
in its utility rates.
