ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE DEPARTMENT
OF FINANCE; PROVIDING FOR SEVE RABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 2 , Section 2-17 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby , amended to read as
follows:
Section 2-17:
There is hereby established the area of
Administrative Services to be under the control
and direction of the Assistant City Manager who
shall be appointed by the City Manager. The area
of Administrative Services shall coordinate and be
responsible for the functions of the Budget &
Research, Personnel, Management Information
Systems and the Building Maintenance Departments
as well as the function of the maintenance of city
vehicles and the coordination of the continued
organizational excellence effort.
Section 2 .
That Chapter 2 be, and the same is hereby, amended to add
a new section 2-22. 1 to read as follows:
Section 2-22. 1 :
There is hereby established the Department of
Finance, the head of which shall be the
Director of Finance, who shall be the City
Manager. The City Manager may appoint a
Finance Officer to perform the duties of the
office, The Director of Finance or his
designated Finance Officer shall have the
charge of Accounting, Auditing, Purchasing and
Central Stores. The Finance Officer shall
report to the Director of Finance and shall
perform such other duties as may be delegated
from time to time by the Director of Finance.

Section 2 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions
and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only .
