ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
85-81 TO ADD A BALLOT PROVISION CONCERNING
THE RECALL OF THE MAYOR.
WHEREAS, on the 13th day of August, 1985 the City Council
adopted Ordinance 85-81 which called a special election to be held
in the City of Beaumont on the 5th day of November, 1985; and,
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified to the Mayor that a
petition to recall him from office was reviewed and found to
contain the sufficient number of signatures under the Charter;
and,
WHEREAS, the Council must order and fix a date for
holding a Recall Election and desires to do so on the 5th day of
November, 1985;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Ordinance 85-81 be, and the same is hereby, amended
to amend Section 1 to read as follows:
Section 1 .
"That it is hereby ordered that a Special
Election be held on the 5th day of November,
1985 between the hours of 7 :00 a.m. and 7 :00
p.m. , at which election an Initiative Petition
and Recall Petition shall be submitted to the
qualified voters of the city for their action
thereon as set out in the official ballot
hereinafter prescribed. "

Section 2 .
That Section 3 of said Ordinance 85-81 be, and the same
is hereby, amended to add a notice provision to read as follows:
NOTICE OF ELECTION IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR
THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING THE QUESTION, "SHALL
WILLIAM B. NEILD BE REMOVED FROM THE OFFICE OF
MAYOR BY RECALL?"
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT AN ELECTION, AS
PROVIDED BY ARTICLE XI OF THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, WILL BE HELD IN THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS, ON THE 5TH DAY OF NOEVEMBER,
1985 FROM 7 :00 A.M. TO 7 :00 P. M. FOR THE
PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING WHETHER WILLIAM B . NEILD
SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE OFFICE OF MAYOR BY
RECALL.
Section 3 .
That Section 4 of said Ordinance 85-81 be, and the same
is hereby, amended to add a ballot provision to read as follows:
"SHALL WILLIAM B. NEILD BE REMOVED FROM THE
OFFICE OF MAYOR BY RECALL?
/-7 FOR THE RECALL OF WILLIAM B. NEILD
/-7 AGAINST THE RECALL OF WILLIAM B. NEILD
Section 4 .
That the remaining sections of Ordinance 85-81 which are
not amended herein be, and the same are hereby, adopted and made a
part of this ordinance as if copied verbatim herein and are hereby
republished by the City Council.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
