ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, SECTION
21-9(B) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT TO AMEND REGULATIONS CONCERNING USE OF
SHORT-TERM DISABILITY LEAVE; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 21, Section 21-9(B) of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby, amended to read
as follows:
Section 29-9(B) :
Each regular full-time employee of the city shall
earn short-term disability leave. Each eligible
employee shall earn 3 .69 hours of short-term
disability leave each biweekly pay period. No
employee who is paid for fewer than eighty (80)
hours in a biweekly pay period shall earn
short-term disability leave for that pay period.
An employee may use disability leave after being
absent eighty (80) consecutive hours for the same
illness or disability. Certification of illness
or disability by the city physician may be
required. Accumulation of short-term disability
leave credits shall be unlimited.
Section 2 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.

Section 3 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
