ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30,
SECTION 30-37 (M) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT INCREASING THE TIME
PERIOD FOR APPLICATIONS FOR VARIANCES;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING
FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 30, Section 30-37(m) of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby ,
amended to read as follows:
Section 30-37(m) . Validity.
If an application is granted by the board, all
permits necessary for the prosecution of the
work must be obtained within one ( 1 ) year and
construction completed within the time
established by the building code. All previous
applications approved by the board for which
building permits have not been issued shall be
valid only if a building permit is obtained
within one ( 1 ) year after receipt of a written
notice of the requirements of this section and
construction must be completed within the time
limits set forth in the building code. Written
notice shall be considered received on the date
such notice is mailed to the person, firm or
corporation who received the variance addressed
to the address of such person, firm or
corporation as the same shall appear_ in the
records of the planning department relating to
the granting of such application.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining

portions of this ordinance, and to such end the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
