ORDINANCE NO. XS-1,7.5
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 16 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THR CITY OF
BEAUMONT TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE LIBRARY
COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 16, Section 16-1 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby , amended to read as
follows:
Section 16-1
There is hereby created a Library Commission which
shall be composed of nine (9 ) members who are
resident citizens and qualified voters of this
city. The members of the Library Commission shall
be appointed by the City Council for two (2 ) years
or until a successor is appointed. The City
Council shall name one of the commissioners as
chairman and one as vice-chaiiman. Vacancies
shall be filled by the City Council for the
unexpired term. Members of the Library Commission
shall serve without compensation.
Section 2 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only .
