ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO
PROVIDE A ONE-YEAR TERM FOR THE CHAIRMAN AND
VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
Chapter 2 , Section 2-82(b) of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2-82(b)
The members of the city planning and zoning
commission shall be resident citizens, and
qualified voters of this city. The members of
the city planning and zoning commission shall be
appointed by the City Council . The term of
office of each commissioner shall be for three
(3 ) years, or until a successor is appointed.
The City Council shall appoint one of the
commissioners as chairman and one as
vice-chairman of the commission to serve a term
of one year.
Section 2 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3 .
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only .
