ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS
6 AND 10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; PROVIDING
FOR FEES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY ;
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
THAT Chapter 6 , Article IV, Section 6-102( 4 ) of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, be and the same is hereby ,
amended as follows:

THAT Chapter 6 , Article V, Section 6-131 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, be and the same is hereby ,
amended to read as follows:
Section 6-131:
Any person desiring a gas permit shall, at the time
of filing an application therefor, pay to the
plumbing inspector fees for permits as follows:

Section 3 .
THAT Chapter 6 , Article VI , Section 6-145 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, Section 106. 3 of the Plumbing
Code, be and the same is hereby , amended to read as follows:
Section 106. 3 •
Any person desiring a plumbing permit shall, at
the time of filing an application therefor, pay
to the plumbing inspector fees as follows:
Toilets $ 2.50 ea.
Tubs 2.50 ea.
Lavatories 2.50 ea.
Sinks 2 .50 ea.
Urinals 2 .50 ea.
Showers 2 .50 ea.

Section 4 .
THAT Chapter 6 , Article VII, Section 6-171 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, Section 106. 3 of the Mechanical
Code, be and the same is hereby , amended to read as follows:
Section 106. 3 :
Schedule of permit fees. Any person desiring a
permit required by this Code shall, at the time
of filing an application therefor, pay permit
and inspection fees as required by this section
for the installation, relocation, or
replacement of any of the following:
AIR CONDITIONING APPLICATION FEES
Fee for issuing each permit $10.00
In addition:
Fee for inspecting heating ,
ventilating , ductwork , air-conditioning
and refrigeration systems shall be ten
dollars ( $10.00) for the first one
thousand dollars ($1 ,000. 00) , or fraction
thereof , of valuation of the installation
plus two dollars ( $2 .00) for each
additional one thousand dollars ( $1 ,000.00) ,
or fraction thereof.
Fee for inspecting repairs, alterations
and additions to an existing system shall
be five dollars ( $5.00) plus two dollars
($2 .00 ) for each one thousand dollars
($1 ,000. 00) or fraction thereof.
Fee for inspecting boilers (based upon BTU
input) :
33,000 BTU ( 1 BHP) to 165,000 ( 5 BHP) 5 .00
165,000 BTU ( 5 BHP) to 330,000 ( 10 BHP) 10.00
330,001 BTU ( 10 BHP) to 1 ,165,000
(52 BHP) 15.00
1 ,165,001 BTU ( 52 BHP) to 3 ,300,000
(98 BHP) 25. 00
Over 3 ,300,000 BTU 35.00
FEES FOR RE-INSPECTION
In case it becomes necessary to make a re-
inspection of a heating, ventilating, air
conditioning or refrigeration system, or
boiler installation, the installer of such
equipment shall pay a re-inspection fee of ten
dollars ( $10.00) .
TEMPORARY OPERATION INSPECTION FEE
When preliminary inspection is requested for
purposes of permitting temporary operation of
a heating , ventilating, refrigeration, or air
conditioning system, or portion thereof , a fee
of five dollars ( $5.00) shall be paid by the
contractor requesting such preliminary
inspection. If the system is not approved for
temporary operation on the first preliminary

inspection, the usual re-inspection fee shall
be charged for each subsequent preliminary
inspection for such purpose.
In all buildings , except one and two family
dwellings , where self-contained air
conditioning units of less than two tons are to
be installed, the fee charged shall be that for
the total cost of all units combined.
Section 5 .
THAT Chapter 10 , Section 10-23 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Beaumont, be and the same is hereby , amended to read
as follows:
Section 10-23:
All metal cans, storage tanks and pumps shall be
installed in a standard manner as provided by
the rules set forth in the fire prevention code
and shall be installed only after a permit has
been obtained from the city manager and under
the direction of the city engineer and the fire
chief; provided, that upon refusal of the city
manager to issue such permit, the applicant may
within ten ( 10) days thereafter, appeal in
writing to the city council. Upon the failure
to appeal in the time and manner prescribed, the
decision of the city manager shall be final.
The fees for such permits shall be as follows:

Butane tank ( residential) 5 .00

Butane tank ( commercial) 20.00

Section 6 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 7 .
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.

Section 8 .
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of
the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
