ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE TAX ROLL FOR THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE YEAR 1982 ; ESTABLISHING A TAX RATE; PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE TAX YEAR 1982 TO PROVIDE A GENERAL FUND AND A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT OF INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Appraisal District has furnished to the City of Beaumont a tax roll for the City of Beaumont for the tax year 1982 ; and, WHEREAS, the taxable assessed value of all property within the City has been determined by the Jefferson County Appraisal District to be $2 ,543,921,008; and, WHEREAS, by Ordinance 82-106, adopted September 7 , 1982, the City levied ad valorem taxes for the tax year 1982 based upon an estimated total assessed value of $2 ,516 ,000, 000 ; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the tax roll submitted by the Jefferson County Appraisal District should be approved and that a tax rate in the amount of $0.75 per $100. 00 of value for the tax year 1982 should be established based upon said tax roll; NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1 . That the tax roll submitted to the City Council by the Assessor of the City of Beaumont,a summary of which is attached as Exhibit "A" and showing the total taxable assessed value of all property within the City to be $2 ,543,921, 008 , is hereby approved and adopted by the City of Beaumont. Section 2. That the tax rate set by Ordinance 82-106 is hereby repealed and there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the tax year 1982, for municipal 9 //-/6-A71 purposes only , an ad valorem tax of Seventy-five Cents ( $0.75) on each One Hundred Dollars ( $100. 00) worth of property located within the present city limits of the City of Beaumont made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be for the purposes hereinafter set forth as follows: For the General Fund $0. 51 For the purpose of paying .24 the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont Section 3 . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Section 4 . That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
