HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 82-92 ORDINANCE NO. 8.2- 9,2- ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF' THE CITY OF BEAUMONT RELATING TO LATE CHARGES FOR LIBRARY MATERIALS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY., PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1 . That Chapter 16, Section 14 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont., Texas be, and the same is hereby , amended to read as follows : The library director shall charge a daily late charge to those persons whose library cards are used to check out library materials which are returned after the applicable loan period. The loan period, daily late charge and maximum, late charge for each item shall be as follows : Daily Late Maximum Item Loan Period q!jarge. Late Charge Books Two weeks— $0.05 Replacement One 2-week cost renewal Phonograph Two weeks 0.05 Replacement records cost Cassettes Two weeks 0.05 Replacement cost Framed Prints One month 0.50 $10.00 Sculpture One month 0. 50 10. 00 Films ,, 24 hours 1 .00 25- 00 Filmstrips, Video Tapes Sewing Patterns Two weeks— 0.05 Replacement One 2-week cost renewal The library director shall, in addition to any late charge imposed by this section,, charge a processing fee of five dollars ($5.00) for lost or damaged library material. Section 2. That if any section, subsection., sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance,, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall riot affect the remaining portions of J%2 q'? X-.2 �-gz /,0 z this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 3 . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Section 4 . Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont,, Texas. Attached is a certified copy of the ordinance passed and is to serve as our notification of said action to you for record. If further action on our part is necessary please ad- vise. We are most anxious to proceed with this task to provide badly needed space in the Court.
