ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NEW RATES FOR
WATER AND SANITARY SEWER SERVICES BY AMENDING
SECTIONS 28-50 AND 28-53 OF THE CITY CODE;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, PROVIDING FOR REPEAL
PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT Sections 28-50(a) and 28-53(a ) of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Beaumont are hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1 .
Section 28-50 (a) :
The following monthly rates for water measured through
meters approved by the Water Utilities Department shall be
effective :

Next 100, 000 .83
Next 100, 000 .81
Next 100, 000 .78
Next 100, 000 .76
Next 500, 000 .69
Over 1, 000, 000 .63
Section 28-53(a) :
The following monthly rates based upon water
measured through meters approved by the water
utilities department shall be effective inside
the city: There shall be a minimum charge to
all persons who have a sewer connection of one
dollar and seventy-five cents ($1.75) . A charge
of seventy-four cents ($0.74) per one thousand
( 1,000) gallons of water usage shall be made
thereafter from zero ( 0 ) gallons to maximum
monthly usage.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.

Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 4.
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the
Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
Section 5 .
This ordinance shall be effective from and after February
1, 1982.
