HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 79-74 ORDINANCE NO. z z ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COI1ECTING OF AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE TAX YEAR 1979-1980 FOR THE PURPOSES OF PROVIDING A GENERAL FUND, AND A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING INTEREST THEREON; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. THAT there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the tax year 1979-1980, for municipal purposes only, an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Eighty-Seven ($1.87) on each One Hundred Dollars' ($100.00) worth of property located within the present city limits of fTe City of Beaumont made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be for purposes hereinafter set forth as follows For the General Fund $1.33 For the purpose of paying $ .54 the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded in- debtedness of the City of Beaumont Section 2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
