HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 79-62 ORDINANCE NO. 72- 62Z ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, SECTION 6-100(c) AND SECTION 6-115(2) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO PROVIDE TBAT AN INDIVIDUAL OWNER MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION AND AMENDING THE REGULATIONS CONCERNING TBE USE OF ELECTRIC METALLIC TUBING; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY TBE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Section 6-100(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 6-100(c) : Nothing in this code shall be construed to prevent a person from doing electrical work himself on his own residence which is owned and occupied by him as such so long as he ccnplies with all of the other provisions of this code. This exception shall be construed to mean an individual owner (not a firm, co-partnership, or corporation, who actually does the labor himself.) This individual owner shall be present at the time of any electrical inspection. Section 2. Section 6-115(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: (2) : Electric metallic tubing, U. L. approved may be used whenever permitted by the provisions of this ordinance. It may be used in slabs above the first floor ground slab. It shall not be used in direct contact with the earth or be used for service masts. Section 3. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Section 5. Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
