ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
APPOINTMENT OF EMPLOYEES OF PUBLIC
UTILITY COMPANIES TO THE BOARD OF EQUAL-
I ZATION; MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION; AND PROVIDING
FOR SEVE'RABILITY.
WHEREAS, Article XVII, Section 8 of the Charter of the City
of Beaumont prohibits officers of the City of Beaumont from being
employed by any public utility corporation which holds any franchise,
privilege or easement from the City of Beaumont, except as may be autho-
rized by law or ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that employees
of public utility campanies should be eligible for appointment to the
Board of Equalization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEALLMONI':
Section 1.
That in accordance with Article XVII, Section 8 of the Charter
of the City of Beaumont, employees of public utility corporations en-
joying the grant of any franchise, privilege or easement from the City
of Beaumont shall be eligible for appointment to the Board of Equalization.
Section 2.
That Patricia Broussard is hereby appointed to the 1979 Board
of Equalization.
Section 3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, phrase or clause of
this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons
or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such in-
validity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and
to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
