HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 79-06 ORDINANCE NO. � ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 68-22 BY EXTENDING THE DESIGNATION OF THE JOHN JAY FRENCH TRADING POST AS A PLACE OF HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Section l of Ordinance 68-22 designating the John Jay French Trading Post as a place of historic and cultural significance, be extended by including the fol- lowing described tract of land, to wit: BEING out of the A. Williams Survey, and being a part of the 26. 77 acre tract set aside to Percelia French by deed recorded in Vol . 145, page' 481, of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, and being described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of that certain . 337 acre tract of land conveyed by Lillian Banker to James A. Smith and wife, Mary Joan Smith, by deed dated April 22, 1952, recorded in Vol. 854, page 535 , of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, an iron pipe for corner in the South line of French Road; THENCE South 37° 16 ' West, at 202. 7 feet pass the Southwest corner of said . 337 acre tract, and at 239.22 feet the South- west corner of that certain . 06 acre tract of land, more or less, conveyed by Percelia French Easters and her hus- band, R. P. Easters, to James A. Smith and wife, Mary Joan Smith, by deed dated November 14, 1959, recorded in Vol. 1194, page 311, of the Deed Records of Jeffer- son County, Texas, an iron pin for corner; THENCE South 531 26 ' East 70. 85 feet to an iron pin at the Southeast corner of said . 06 acre tract of land last above mentioned; THENCE North 371 57 ' East at 36 . 53 feet pass the northeast corner of said . 06 acre tract; and continuing North 370 54 ' East for a total distance of 239. 28 feet, more or less, to the Northeast corner of the . 337 acre tract hereinabove mentioned, an iron pipe in the South line of French Road; THENCE North 530 26 ' west along the South line of French Road 73 . 5 feet to the place of beginning; and including within said metes and bounds both the . 337 acre tract and the . 06 acre tract herein .referred to. 1-,�,-�0-7V ,� 74� That in all other respects the use of the property hereinabove described shall be subject to all of the appli- cable regulations contained in Ordinance 68-22. Section 2 . That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
