WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force has been funded by a federal grant administered by the Texas Narcotics Control Program, a department of the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office; and, WHEREAS, Jefferson County is the grantee of the project with the Sheriffs Department as the lead agency; and, WHEREAS, the Beaumont Police Department has been a member of the Task Force since 1993 and has provided its match in the form of personnel costs equaling 25% of the salary of the officers assigned to the Grant from the Beaumont Police Department; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT- THAT the City of Beaumont hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to apply for continuing grant funding for the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force and pledges that in the event of loss or misuse of Criminal Justice Division funds, the City of Beaumont assures that these funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Beaumont commits to provide the matching funds necessary to comply with grant conditions.
