ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 01-
006, THE ELECTION ORDINANCE WHICH CALLED A
GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE 5TH DAY OF MAY, 2001
TO PROVIDE FOR A BALLOT PROPOSITION
AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A PORTION OF CENTRAL
PARK AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING
TO THE SUBJECT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
THAT Ordinance 01-006 be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section
4 thereof to read as follows:
"Section 4.
Legally qualified voters residing within Wards I, II, III and IV in the corporate
limits of the City of Beaumont shall be entitled to a vote at said election for
the respective candidates for each of said Wards and for or against the
proposition for the sale of a portion of Central Park."
Section 2.
THAT a new Section 15 be and the same is hereby added to Ordinance 01-006 to
amend said ordinance. Said new Section 15 to read as follows:
"Section 15.
That at the election heretofore ordered for the 5th day of May, 2001, there
shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the City the proposition of
whether a portion of Central Park of approximately 4.07 acres

should be sold or otherwise conveyed. All monies derived from such sale
or conveyance must be used for park land or facilities."
Section 3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
Section 4.
All ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent
of the conflict only.
Section 5.
That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Beaumont, Texas.
