WHEREAS three (3) proposals were received on Monday, January 3, 2000, for
furnishing and installing all hardware, software and associated telephone lines necessary
for upgrading the City's data communications infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell of Beaumont submitted bids in the amounts of
$57,527.57 for furnishing and installing all hardware, software and telephone lines to
upgrade the City's data communication system and $463.75 per month for a three (3) year
contract to provide Internet service; and,
WHEREAS, Penta, Inc. submitted a bid in the amount of $64,227 to provide all
hardware and software to create the infrastructure for an E-mail and Internet connection;
and,
WHEREAS, City Council is of the opinion that the bids submitted by Southwestern
Bell of Beaumont and Penta, Inc. should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bids submitted by Southwestern Bell of Beaumont in the amounts of$57,527.57
for furnishing and installing all hardware, software and telephone lines necessary to
upgrade the City's data communication system and $463.75 per month for a three (3) year
contract to provide Internet service and the bid submitted by Penta, Inc. in the amount of
$64,227 to provide all hardware and software necessary to create the infrastructure for
an E-mail and Internet connection be accepted by the City of Beaumont.
