ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN STRUCTURES
TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND ORDERING THEIR
DEMOLITION, RENOVATION AND REMOVAL; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the
buildings located at:
4. 2211 Ashley 19. 2041 Primrose
5. 6390 Bigner Road 20. 2019 South
6. 10765 Black Lane 21. 3586 St.James
7. 4045 Broussard Street 22. 2141 Taylor
8. 4047 Broussard Street 23. 3510 West
9. 4055 Broussard Street 24. 2495 Angelina
10. 3120 Cleveland 25. 2895 Goliad
11. 1810 Corley 26. 3845 Lou &Structure in rear)
12. 1842 Corley 27. 3865 Lou
13. 618 Euclid (Rear Apartment/Garage) 28. 2860 Park
14. 1530 Gill 29. 2250 Rusk(Garage Apartment)
15. 3010 Goliad 30. 2573-75 Rusk
16. 1113 Hazel (Garage Apartment in rear) 31. 3925 Scranton
17. 2365 Morrison 32. 3520 West
18. 1010 Orange
to be public nuisances in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or
dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or
property.
Section 2.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within ten (10) days
of the effective date of this ordinance:
4. 2211 Ashley 14. 1530 Gill
5. 6390 Bigner Road 15. 3010 Goliad
6. 10765 Black Lane 16. 1113 Hazel (Garage Apartment in rear)
7. 4045 Broussard Street 17. 2365 Morrison
8. 4047 Broussard Street 18. 1010 Orange
9. 4055 Broussard Street 19. 2041 Primrose
10. 3120 Cleveland 21. 3586 St.James
11. 1810 Corley 22. 2141 Taylor
12. 1842 Corley 23. 3510 West
13. 618 Euclid (Rear Apartment/Garage)
If the property owner fails to comply within ten (10) days, Council orders that the
property be demolished without further notice to the property owner(s) or City Council
action.
Section 3.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described buildings either demolish or repair said structure in accordance with
all codes within sixty (60) days of the effective date of this ordinance:
20. 2019 South 28. 2860 Park
25. 2895 Goliad 30. 2573-75 Rusk
26. 3845 Lou &Structure in rear) 31. 3925 Scranton
27. 3865 Lou 32. 3520 West
The owners, in order to avoid demolition, must enter into a work program for the structures
within thirty (30) days from date of ordinance.
Section 4.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described building either demolish or repair said structure in accordance with all
codes within 90 (ninety) days of the effective date of this ordinance:
24. 2495 Angelina
The owners, in order to avoid demolition, must enter into a work program for the structures
within thirty (30) days from date of ordinance.
Section 5.
That the following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by
the City of Beaumont without further notification to the owner.
1. 4360 Brandon 3. 3673 St.James
2. 1113 Hazel
Section 6.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance and, to such end, the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
Section
That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
