ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
00-69, BEAUMONT, TEXAS, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS,
TO ALLOW THE PROPERTY AT 955 NOLAN (GARAGE
APARTMENT) TO BE REHABILITATED; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY.
WHEREAS, on August 29, 2000, City Council passed Ordinance No. 00-69 entering
a raze order for the property located at 955 Nolan (garage apartment) in the City of
Beaumont, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the Council believes it is in the best interest of the City of Beaumont
to allow the property owners an opportunity to rehabilitate 955 Nolan (garage apartment).
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED:
Section 1.
THAT the property owners, Kyle M. and Cheryl L. Rumery, be and they are hereby ordered
to enter into a ninety(90) day work program to rehabilitate 955 Nolan (garage apartment).
Should the owners fail or refuse to enter into a work program or repair the structure to
comply with minimum housing codes or demolish the structure within the time limits set
herein, the City is authorized to demolish the structure without further Council action.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this

ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
Section 3.
That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Beaumont, Texas.
Section 4
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the
extent of the conflict only.
