A Look at Texas Scrapbook, 1953-1961
DESCRIPTION
This scrapbook begins with a series of photographs and narrative descriptions of tourist sites in
Texas. After a few pages, the focus changes to a collection of items pertinent to the history of
Beaumont buildings and landmarks. More than half of the newspaper clippings contained therein
relate to the historic preservation of Beaumont's most famous buildings. Also included is a
series of articles concerning Harry Truman's dismissal of General Douglas MacArthur during
the Korean War, and MacArthur's visit to Texas. The scrapbook is maintained in its original
order. An additional folder contains loose clippings which represent continuation of those in the
scrapbook.
